It’s all about the details (#13)
As you dive into this e-magazine, you will notice that our projects are not simple matters. Not only are they getting larger, but also more complex, demanding our utmost attention and expertise.
More than ever, we believe that success in these endeavours hinges on unity and collaboration across all departments. From facing Montevideo Port's rock hard soil over installing our first DC cable bundle between Ireland and the UK, to repairing bridges over one of Belgium's busiest highways. But we also take care of thorough equipment preparation, such as in one of our largest logistical and technical hub in Dubai. We are ready to take on any challenge, ensuring the highest quality outcomes for our clients.
Our impact today shapes tomorrow (#12)
Extreme natural phenomena reveal the mounting pressure on our climate. Addressing this alongside our commitment to enhancing global well-being presents significant challenges.
While I believe individual efforts matter, the primary responsibility lies with governments and companies, like ours, to steer toward a brighter future. We aim not just to meet, but to exceed expectations, setting new standards for ourselves and the industry. Our journey towards a sustainable future is ongoing, and we invite you to join us on this path.
Dare to pioneer (#11)
As you read this, our floating crane vessel Les Alizés and water injection dredger Cosette are carrying out their first mission. Big deal, you say? Well, maybe you’d think differently if you knew that most of our vessels are designed at a time when there
Thinking out of the box is a must to keep ahead of the times, and we do so for more than just our fleet. Today, we are also pushing the boundaries with projects like the world’s first floating solar panels at sea and the first-ever mangrove ecosystem made from dredged sediments. It is with passion that we dive into these pioneering endeavours and meet the future’s needs head-on.
Creating value with power projects (#10)
One of our main strengths is our ability to offer all-round solutions. We build bridges. Literally, like on our project in Nivelles, but also in a much wider sense. We excel at combining our expertise and at connecting, internally and externally.
That capability comes from still being a family business. One that has grown to thousands of colleagues, but in which the values of open communication and teamwork are still present. Thanks to this, we complete groundbreaking projects with a positive impact, like in Nador. And for that, we also go beyond responding to clients’ needs. With our in-house expertise and innovative fleet, we take a driving position in tackling the challenges that lie ahead. As such, we take a leading role in constructing the energy transition.
Turning innovation into practice (#9)
It might surprise you, but our Heavy-Lift Vessel Les Alizés, trencher Swordfish, dredging project Payra Port and renovation projects have one thing in common: great design.
Design is crucial. Not only for the future of our company, but for the future of us all. To build our world of tomorrow, we have to start today. In the design department, we literally turn innovation into practice. It is a real challenge to deliver solutions that are technically, financially and sustainably satisfactory. Still, we manage to achieve just that.
Embracing change, key to an evolving world (#8)
The world is in a crisis and it is changing daily in front of our own eyes. Technological and scientific progress, conflicts and climate change fundamentally transform whole industries, shifting consumer demands and challenging enterprises.
At a time where change is rapid, agility and the ability to solve problems are key. Being a ‘problem solver’ is exactly the core of Jan De Nul’s DNA. Our forward-looking view on market trends and the decision to invest in Next Gen vessels like Voltaire and Les Alizés, have done us no harm.
Protecting the world in a sustainable way (#7)
Eroding coastlines, rising sea levels, a world in rapid energy transition and ecosystems under pressure. Our society needs more and more protection. And that requires a multidisciplinary approach.
An approach that we at Jan De Nul have been using for some time. It is in our DNA to work out creative solutions and to keep pushing our boundaries. We look for complex projects and apply our expertise to deliver them. The bigger the challenge, the better it suits us.
A sustainable world for future generations (#6)
Clients are looking for the best solution. That’s not always the cheapest or easiest one. Sustainability is becoming increasingly important.
As a marine and civil contractor, it’s our responsibility to offer solutions that benefit both man and nature. How we do this? By focusing on circularity, by protecting water and land against the impact of climate change, and by searching for new ways to use and produce energy.
New solutions to push new limits (#5)
The energy transition is here, and it’s happening right now. This global shift asks for new solutions, pushing investors and contractors to new limits.
Are you struggling to find a new solution? We help you conceive it, by translating your needs into specific applications that push operational limits and increase technical efficiencies. There is an inspiring creativity within our divisions and departments. It is our job to guide this spirit to comply with the strictest rules and requirements.
Working on the transition towards a sustainable future (#4)
Through a mix of remarkable facts and figures, inspiring projects, expert insights, industry trends and fascinating stories from all across the globe, we’ll let you in on how we make our partners excel.
In a fast changing world, it is key for organizations to stay future proof. At Jan De Nul Group, we focus on growing as a company and further developing our different businesses. We are optimistic about the years to come.
Five decades of improved technology (#3)
Every day, Jan De Nul strives to make the impossible possible for clients around the globe. Need proof? Take a look behind the scenes.
The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project highlights our pioneering role in the globalisation of offshore renewables. Over half a century separates the ‘old’ from the ‘new’ Sanderus. What has changed? In Ostend, we supported the seaport’s growth by widening its entrance and strengthening its banks.
Discover how we foster innovative ideas by putting various colleagues in the driver’s seat.
Global player looking ahead with confidence (#2)
The Covid-19 pandemic has a huge impact, both on our clients and our company. Jan De Nul will bridge this crisis thanks to: our committed people, our flexibility, and most of all our healthy financial position.
In Hamburg, we spare no effort to make the port accessible to the largest container vessels in the world. And in the port of Antwerp, we are currently remediating the historic site of Fort Filips in what has become the biggest rehabilitation project ever in Belgium. In complex offshore wind projects, we are the perfect partner for EPCI and the responsibilities of an extensive balance of plant contract. In all our activities, the safety of our people is vital for the success we achieve as a company. We gathered some comments from a training course that teaches our employees how to execute lifting operations safely. As such, we will maintain our position as a global player and we look ahead with confidence.
Working with, for and like nature (#1)
All over the world Jan De Nul Group excels in diverse activities. That is why we want to treat you three times a year to unique and exclusive content.
Jan De Nul Group shapes water and land. With the investment in the new generation of offshore installation vessels Voltaire and Les Alizés, we are ready to build the offshore wind farms of the future. We respect our planet by using Nature Based Solutions: a project design philosophy to build with, for and like nature as much as possible. As such, we are fighting the waves to stop coastal erosion in Benin. We involve the local population and we take an interest in the region where we work. In Belgium we build solid infrastructure such as hospitals and training centres, so that we can rely on the best health care even in difficult times. By joining forces, we succeed time and time again in providing innovative and sustainable solutions, tailored to the customer’s needs.
