Exhibition 'Going like the wind'

10,000 visitors for expo ‘Going like the wind’

That an educational story, lots of activities, and an interactive parkour are a recipe for success proves the expo ‘Going like the wind’ by surpassing 10,000 visitors. The exhibition offers a unique perspective on the dynamic world of durable energy. You even get to see the scale model of one of our vessels.

Inspiring and interactive exhibition filled with activities

The book of the same name by publisher Stratier and author Sarah Devos is brought to life during the exhibition. This way, they want to inspire and involve the younger generation in the transition to renewable energy. Together with partners DEME and ELIA, we are proud sponsors of the expo. With our combined expertise, we want to highlight important innovations, such as the Princess Elisabeth Island. The artificial island will bring energy from offshore wind farms to the mainland.

Alongside the educational aspect, there is also a lot to experience. The exhibition targets families with children between the ages of 6 and 12. It offers an interactive journey through the wind farms of the North Sea. You can also take a closer look at the scale model of our Jack-up Installation Vessel Vole au Vent. The ship has already contributed to several offshore wind farms, such as Borkum Riffgrund II in Germany, Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind in the United States, and Northwester 2 in home waters.

Exploratory journey from wind to burning lamp

Together with your children, you will playfully explore how wind turbines generate electricity and bring it ashore. You get to roll up your sleeves during lots of activities, such as:

  • Adventurous zones where children can play to their hearts' content. From crawling through 'turbines' and 'cables' to climbing and jumping on a play-sized version of the Princess Elisabeth Island.
  • An audio narration by actor Warre Borgmans gives a unique insight into the exhibition.
  • A family quest outside the walls of Fort Napoleon. Follow the trail, answer questions, and solve the assignments given to you at the start of the quest.
The family expo takes place at Fort Napoleon, Ostend, and runs until Decembre 1st
