In 2014 and 2015 the Joseph Plateau was mobilized to Australia to perform rock blanket installation, solid ballasting and scour protection services for the chevron-operated Wheatstone platform.
Prior to installation of the platform a rock blanket was installed within a tolerance of +/- 50 mm on a water depth of 70 m. The rock blanket had the size of approximately two football fields (over 30,000 tonnes of rock). On this rock blanket the platform was installed and the ballasting of 110,000 tonnes of iron ore was performed by the same vessel by use production and pumping units on the aft of the vessel. After solid ballasting, the scour protection was installed by means of armour rock and mattresses.
