This policy details how Jan De Nul uses and protects personal data when a person:

Jan De Nul receives most information directly from users. This information may include personal data, such as their name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, date of birth, language preference etc. In addition, Jan De Nul registers a limited information about connections that are made to our websites and the software and devices that are used to accomplish this and makes use of cookies (see section 3.5).

Jan De Nul may collect certain data of users through various channels, orally or in writing, such as via e-mail, through our websites, by subscribing to our newsletter or filling out an electronic form (for example, the vacancy application section on the "Jobs" pages of our websites).

Use of Personal Data

Jan De Nul is committed to process personal data in compliance with GDPR. Jan De Nul only uses personal data to pursue legitimate interests, including:

Jan De Nul is assisted by third parties to provide specific services, such as hosting our websites, delivering our newsletter etc. In the context thereof these third parties may have access to the personal data processed by Jan De Nul.

Jan De Nul does not make personal information available to any other third party, except when such disclosure is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the person is party.  

Any information that Jan De Nul receives may be shared with and processed by any entity in the worldwide network of Jan De Nul. This may entail a transfer of a person’s information from a location within the European Economic Area (the "EEA") to outside the EEA, or from outside the EEA to a location within the EEA. The level of information protection in countries outside the EEA may be less than that offered within the EEA, however, we have procedures in place to ensure the protection of a person’s information up to the level required within the EEA.

While it is unlikely, we may be required to disclose a person’s information to comply with legal or regulatory requirements. We will use reasonable endeavours to notify that person before we do this, unless we are legally restricted from doing so. 

Protection and storage of personal data

Jan De Nul applies the highest standard of security when it comes to safeguarding and protecting personal data. We have taken technical and organizational measures to protect the databases in which personal data is kept against unauthorized access, unauthorized use, theft or loss. Our security measures are regularly evaluated and adapted.

Jan De Nul shall report any serious security breach as per applicable law or contractual provisions.

The personal data is securely stored for a period as required by regulation after a person has ceased its dealings with Jan De Nul unless otherwise indicated at the time of collecting a person’s personal data. However, cookies may last longer on the users’ device. 

Privacy Policy in relation to websites

Connection Data

Jan De Nul registers a limited set of information about connections that are made to our websites and the software and devices that are used to accomplish this. This data is used to create statistics and improve the quality of our websites and services through analyses of a user’s surfing behaviour on our websites.

Our websites may contain hyperlinks to websites that are not managed by Jan De Nul. Such hyperlinks are provided purely for information purposes. When consulting such websites, we recommend that persons carefully read their privacy policy.

User's rights

Under applicable data protection legislation, Jan De Nul will use reasonable endeavours to ensure that personal information is accurate and up to date. Users have the right to access their data, have outdated information updated or any errors updated or, if necessary, deleted or request that we restrict the use thereof. 

If the processing of personal data is based on their explicit request or consent (consent may be assumed for existing users) users may withdraw their consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing such data prior to such withdrawal. If someone receives newsletters or marketing materials from us, they may withdraw their consent to us by sending an e-mail to privacy@jandenul.com

Changes in our External Privacy policy
