Interconnections
To make this happen, Jan De Nul deploys its cable vessels to install offshore interconnector cables and high-voltage grid connections between countries and regions all over the world.
Export cables, inter-arrays and umbilicals
Jan De Nul Group has extensive experience in installing both export cables and inter-arrays for offshore wind farms, as well as interconnectors and umbilicals.

Cable laying vessels
Jan De Nul provides underwater cable connectivity of offshore structures and brings offshore energy to shore by installing submarine cables and umbilicals. Our cable-laying vessels are assisted by specific vessels and tools aboard to bury cables or to cover them with a protective rock layer and/or other external protection measures.
Tailor-made trenchers
The electricity produced by offshore wind farms finds its way to shore through submarine cables. To bring the renewable energy to the consumer, these cables also have to be installed, buried and protected, both offshore, in tidal areas and on land. In order to meet the protection requirements, Jan De Nul operates various trenching tools such as the tailor made Sunfish, Moonfish and Swordfish to allow for burial depths from 0.5 m up to 8 metres. Despite the size and weight, the ground pressure of these trenching tools do not exceed that of a human being, allowing for a minimal environmental impact.
