In Abidjan, a site of almost 124 acres was reclaimed for extending the port area, which suffered from congestion problems. We also installed 20,000 tonnes of rocks as shore protection to protect the reclaimed site against erosion.
For the reclamation works, we had to consider the risk of landslides because of the poor quality of the soil. That’s why we decided to reclaim the part below the waterline with a spray pontoon. Subsequently, the second layer was reclaimed using a conventional on-shore pipeline.
