Burbo Bank Extension Offshore Wind Farm

Like it says in the name, the Burbo Bank Extension Offshore Wind Farm was added on to the original Burbo Bank wind farm, off the coast of Liverpool in the UK. The wind farm has 32 MHI Vestas V164-8.0MW wind turbines with rotor blades up to 80 metres long.

Client Dong Energy Wind Power A/S (now known as Ørsted) chose Jan De Nul Group for the installation of a 25 km long 220 kV offshore export cable and 32 inter-array cables, 51.5 km long. For this, Jan De Nul Group deployed cable-laying vessel Willem de Vlamingh. We dredged a trench for the installation of the export cable and back-filled it with trailing hopper dredger Taccola. The inter-array cables were dug in with TROV UTV1200 in jetting mode of TSV Simon Stevin.
