Expansion of Kingston port
Jan De Nul Group were part of a consortium that was trusted with expanding the port of Kingston, Jamaica. The total implementation period of the project was 25 months. Except for the deepening of the harbour basin and access channel, this also included the strengthening and renovation of the existing container terminal quay walls. Jan De Nul Group still managed to complete the dredging works in a record time of less than 7 months. To achieve this tour de force, we deployed six vessels, no less: suction cutter Ibn Battuta, trailing suction hopper dredger Pedro Alvares Cabrál and four corresponding split barges.
These works will expand harbour access to larger container vessels, which will be able to find their way to Kingston Port more easily, thanks to the expansion of the lock complex on the Panama Canal.
Kingston Port was the fourth project for Jan De Nul Group in Jamaica.
