To meet increased energy demand in the United Kingdom, an offshore pipeline was laid from the gas-rich offshore fields in Norway to the east coast of the UK.
The pipeline is 1,200 km long in total, the longest offshore pipeline ever laid. Jan De Nul Group was principal contractor for the installation works on land in Easington and was in charge of dredging works and rock fill works.
