For the stabilisation of a 24” Gas Export Pipeline on a depth of up to 380 m a rock berm needed to be installed for Shell. Rock material with a high density was required to be stable enough to withstand the high currents on that water depth.
The required material was procured from Norway and transported with bulk carriers to Batangas Bay in the Philippines where it was transferred from the bulk carriers into our vessel ‘Joseph Plateau’. A total of 76,600 tonnes of high density armour rock was installed. Jan De Nul received an award for the successful execution of the project on time prior to the arrival of a hurricane. As there was no harm done to people and environment our client showed great appreciation and granted us the award.
