Mina de Cobre

Jan De Nul Group carried out large-scale earthworks on the Mina de Cobre Panama project, for Minera Panamá. The Mina de Cobre is one of the world’s largest untapped copper reserves and is located in central Panama, in the middle of a jungle.

The contract executed by Jan De Nul Group is part of a larger investment for the setting up and operation of a mine, mainly for the extraction of copper, molybdenum, silver and gold. The mine is accessible from the Atlantic coast via a new 20 km-long road, with the construction of a brand-new port on the coast. Because of the location of the mine, the 150 pieces of heavy construction plant used by Jan De Nul Group had to be shipped in using landing craft.
