Royaume-Uni – Projet de démonstration de Blyth

Offshore wind farm Blyth, United Kingdom

Offshore windmolenpark Blyth Demonstration project

Near the port of Blyth in Northumberland (UK) – approximately 5.7 km off the coast – EDF Renewable Energy developed an offshore wind farm, with a 41.5 MW total capacity. MHI Vestas supplied five of the world’s largest wind turbines at the time, the Jan De Nul Group jack-up installation vessel Vole au vent installed the turbines.

The 8.3 MW MHI Vestas turbines have a rotor diameter of 164 metres. At the time, Jan De Nul Group were one of the first contractors qualified to install turbines of that size. It was an extremely innovative job for a leading player on the market.
