Envisan, pioneer in the Walloon Region and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
First physical-chemical treatment plant on the Walloon market.
Envisan, the environmental subsidiary of Jan De Nul Group, announces that in the course of the following months it will start setting up the first industrial process for the physical-chemical treatment of contaminated soils in Wallonia in its treatment centre Île Monsin in Liege.
Envisan runs Sol&Val Monsin, a centre for the treatment and valorisation of soils and sediments in the heart of Liege. Since 2016, lightly to severely contaminated soils, heavy metals and hydrocarbons are treated here. This centre acts as a service provider for the construction industry (companies offering earthworks, collecting on-site waste, construction of roads...) near Liege and even beyond the provincial and national borders. The centre has a capacity of 150,000 tonnes per year.
Circular economy
Sol&Val Monsin and Envisan are now among the major players in Wallonia’s circular economy. The treatment technology developed at Sol&Val Monsin will enable the production of new recycled construction materials based on contaminated soils and dehydrated sediments.
Beyond the borders
Thanks to the extraordinary trimodal accessibility (railway, water and road) of Sol&Val Monsin, Envisan will have the opportunity to develop its remediation activities in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and in the east of France. It will thus be able to offer these neighbouring regions highly effective solutions for the treatment of their contaminated soils, both in terms of recycling and from a logistic perspective.
Synergy within Jan De Nul Group
This investment of 5 million euro confirms the determination of Jan De Nul Group to strengthen the operational synergies between its three core activities, i.e. waterway dredging, civil engineering and soil remediation works.
In all, Envisan now runs five centres in Belgium for the treatment of soil and sediments (RC&TOP in the port of Gent, Sedival Moen near Kortrijk, Sol&Val Saint-Ghislain near Mons, TOP Brussels and Sol&Val Monsin in the port of Liege). The sixth centre of the Group is situated in the south of France, in Seyne-sur-Mer near Toulon.
