Sustainability Report 2021-2022
Our values as cornerstones for sustainability
Challenge, Connect, Focus, Respect. Based on our values, Jan De Nul resolutely opts for a sustainable future. We care for people and planet. We work as a team and share our knowledge and expertise. We focus on the most sustainable solution for all parties involved. We accept the challenge of helping to build a better future.
Environment
As a civil, marine, and offshore contractor, Jan De Nul has a large influence on the environment. We actively participate in the transition to renewable energy, valorise polluted sites, and protect coasts from erosion. At the same time, we actively reduce our emissions, we reuse as many materials as possible, and introduce sustainable solutions in our projects.
-
Constructing the energy transition
We take a leading role in the energy transition. Not only by installing tried and tested forms as interconnectors and offshore wind farms, but also by researching new possibilities...
-
Valorising polluted soils with minimal ecological footprint
Jan De Nul and its daughter companies Envisan and PSR give contaminated sites a second lease of life, thanks to a wide range of remediation techniques.
-
Protecting coastlines with sustainable methods
To protect our coast and the hinterland from the impact of climate change, we need to repair our beaches every year. With our sustainable beach nourishments, we display a world first in the sector.
Social
At Jan De Nul, our biggest assets are our people. Their skills and knowledge are invaluable to our business, irrespective of their background. For this reason, we encourage talent and offer trainings throughout their careers. Furthermore, we aplly the highest standards for safety and wellbeing across all our activities, both for our employees and impacted communities.
Governance
Our position as a global leader allows Jan De Nul to be a role model in responsible and reliable entrepreneurship. We attach great importance to compliance and integrity, and maintain the highest possible standards in line with all applicable laws and guidelines. In addition, we invest heavily in ethical behaviour and a culture of compliance, even - and perhaps even more - in countries that do not have a common cultural heritage and might pose challenges in terms of ethical business practices.
