Alstom Belwind Demonstration project, Belgium

In the North Sea, off the Belgian coast, part of the Belwind Phase 2 wind farm provides laboratory and test facilities for Alstom. It enables them to live-test and assess their Haliade 150-6 MW turbine in real offshore wind and sea conditions. Jan De Nul Group installed a 33 kV cable.

Jan De Nul Group were entrusted with the installation, excavation and erosion protection of the cable. For this project, the fall pipe vessel Simon Stevin was fitted with an ROV-trencher to bury the cable once installed.
