We purchased the real estate from the trustee in bankruptcy, including the obligation to clean up the serious pollution with cyanides and heavy metals.

After the remediation, the building was completely renovated and repositioned. The project was then sold to Bananas NV, an events and marketing agency.

We continued to monitor the environmental condition of the site for another five years after the sale. This illustrates that we always assume our remediation obligations, even when we no longer have any business interest in the relevant site. Besides, the long-term groundwater monitoring allows us to accurately study the behaviour of cyanides in groundwater.
