Tuesday, June 25, is dedicated to one thing and one thing only: International Day of the Seafarer. And while we at Jan De Nul celebrate our crew every day, we do it with extra enthusiasm today, on their day. It is the day when seafarers all over the world take center stage, and we celebrate all they have achieved.

For us, that means more than 3,000 crew members who dedicate themselves every day to ensure that our fleet remains up and running 24/7, that waterways are maintained at the right depth, that energy reaches the shore, that ports are accessible, and that wind turbines keep turning. For this, we sincerely thank our crew and all other seafarers.

What is this day about?

This International Day of the Seafarer is held annually on June 25. The Day was established during a conference of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in Manila in 2010. The reason? To make people stop and think about how important the role of seafarers is.

Like every year, the IMO attaches a theme to this day in 2024. This year's campaign will focus on the contribution of seafarers in making the maritime sector a safer workplace. As in previous years, the IMO campaign will concentrate on social media with the hashtag #SafetyTipsAtSea.
