In the North Sea, off the Belgian coast, part of the Belwind Phase 2 wind farm provides laboratory and test facilities for Alstom. It enables them to live-test and assess their Haliade 150-6 MW turbine in real offshore wind and sea conditions. Jan De Nul Group installed a 33 kV cable.
34 km off the Belgian coast lies Rentel, the fifth offshore wind farm in the Belgian North Sea and also the first Otary project. The wind farm consists of 42 wind turbines and has a total capacity of 309 MW. Building works started early 2018. Later that year, production started to supply green power to approximately 300,000 Belgian households every year. For this project, Jan De Nul Group installed the cables with the Sunfish II trencher.
